Here at TIEP, all of us are international students, and that mix of culture creates a fascinating environment to learn a language. All of us have shown tremendous courage by coming here. We left our homes, our friends, and our country to come to America with the goal of mastering the English language, something that is not an easy task. We are very fortunate to have been given this opportunity. Many people around the world are envious of what we are doing here, and we should be proud of ourselves that we are among the ones doing it. At the conclusion of this course, I was able to gain acceptance to the University of Colorado at Boulder. I am here to tell you that if I can get accepted to a good institution like this then you can. To help you accomplish this, I want to share with you the experiences that helped me achieve this and some of the…KEEP READING TESTIMONIAL >
The teachers and advisers here have a wealth of experience and were able to help me with every single problem I had…
It was surely their kind of highly praised words that helped me get into many good universities.

First of all, it is a great honor for me to give the valedictory speech representing TIEP students. Thank you for giving me this great opportunity to let me share my precious study experience at TIEP. When I first came to TIEP, it was a cold and windy day. At first, everything was unusual and challenging to me. Every time I spoke with my classmates who came from different countries, I was so nervous and anxious that I could hardly speak. Sometimes I would stammer when I had to speak in front of people. After seven months of studying at TIEP, when I look back at myself in the mirror, I find that my English skills have dramatically improved. I know most of you feel it is difficult when you speak with native speakers. In my opinion, there are several reasons. Most of all I think the biggest reason is a lack of confidence. This lack of confidence stems not…KEEP READING TESTIMONIAL >
I’ve received acceptances from Cornell University, the University of Washington, and the University of Iowa, and I’m planning to go to the University of Washington to pursue a PhD in bio-mechanical engineering. In the foundation of my success, there was my education here at TIEP.

I am honored to be with you today for the recognition ceremony at one of the most successful English schools in the United States. Today, I will tell you three stories about my life. The first story is when I started at TIEP. I was in Level 120, and I was thinking about the highest level at TIEP which is Level 160. I asked myself, Star, when will you reach Level 160? It was as high as stars in the sky. The second story is when I celebrated at TIEP during the recognition ceremony in the summer of 2010. There was a speaker for the ceremony who was standing at this stage where I’m now. In fact, I don’t remember his name or what he said. I couldn’t understand the half of his speech. However, I do remember how fluent he was which is the dream for every English learner. The image of respect and reverence that he deserved made…KEEP READING TESTIMONIAL >
Now, today, I have achieved all three [of my] dreams. I have finished Level 160A and Level 160B with an “A” each time. I am the speaker at this ceremony, and I was accepted for a master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut which I’m starting next month.

My name is Kitty Garza. I am from Monterrey, Mexico, and I have now completed level 160 at TIEP. First, I would like to thank all the teachers, administrative staff, and students for your support through this academic year at TIEP. TIEP gave me several wonderful experiences, understanding, skills, judgment, practice, anecdotes, that I will remember all my life. But I can distinguish three aspects that are the most important. TIEP helped me to discover my potential. Sometimes we don’t realize all the abilities that we have, and we don’t know what we are capable of accomplishing in life. For this reason, every homework that I turned in, every test that I took, every essay that I wrote, every speech that I presented to the class and every day that I came to class, helped me understand my potential, and now helps me to acknowledge my strengths and my weaknesses and to discover that I can achieve my goals in…KEEP READING TESTIMONIAL >

First of all, I would like to thank all of the TIEP staff for this precious semester, especially my two teachers Eric and Matthew for teaching and helping me in so many things. I stand here not as a perfect student, but as a still-learning student. I would like to encourage you all with my personal experiences. My name is Brighton Kim and I’m from South Korea. I had studied hard since I was a middle school student, and eventually, I was admitted to a famous university in Korea. But I lacked the ability to communicate well in English, so I came here to study at TIEP. At first, I couldn’t express my opinions freely and worried about making precise sentences. Sometimes I felt frustrated and said nothing in classes, even becoming mad at myself. But I didn’t give up. Instead, I learned two important things that I would like to share with you now. First, I learned to talk…KEEP READING TESTIMONIAL >

I still clearly remember how poor my English was when I just arrived in the U.S. At the Los Angeles airport I did not even know what the word “transfer” meant. After one year of life in TIEP, I am going to study in Lamar University. I am able to start my academic life in America. To be honest I am not an expert about exams. However I firmly believe what supports me in studying English is confidence. Believe you can speak English well. Open your mouth, speak bravely, and don’t care too much about your mistakes. I am from China. From my point of view, all eastern Asian students have the same problem. A barrier to our English progress is a cultural difference. We are too quiet in class. Even though Asian students are smart enough and thoughtful enough, our character makes it hard for us to open our mouths to give our opinions. When a group of international…KEEP READING TESTIMONIAL >
If university teaches you what is true in our world, TIEP teaches you how to live in the world. Studying so many different ideas from different countries in a classroom at TIEP is such a precious opportunity.

My name is Sarah Barrios, and I’m a 160 student. I’m from Venezuela and I’m 17 years old. I first came in September last year and this was my second semester in TIEP. Before telling you about my different experiences in TIEP, I want first to thank my teachers and TIEP to give me this opportunity of giving the speech in the recognition ceremony day for you all. So far my biggest achievement as a result of my involvement and dedication in TIEP, has being the acceptance at The University of Texas at San Antonio, to start my undergraduate program in Architecture in September 2013. TIEP has numerous activities and requirements that have helped me to reach this goal. For example, the daily assignments that teachers give us and that each of us is responsible for completing and reviewing, always keeping in mind that our big goal is to become proficient in English. Another tool that TIEP provides to us…KEEP READING TESTIMONIAL >

A decade ago, my parents had probably thought through what you or your parents are considering - learn better English. By placing myself in a foreign location, I needed a suitable institution where I could learn better English. This was a key factor to speaking better English and avoiding or lessening the effects of culture shocks. Why Austin and TIEP? I attended TIEP for 3 semesters during my first time living away from my parents. It was one of my most tremendous and memorable life experiences. TIEP provided me with a high standard of education, which has prepared me for further education in the States. I have obtained a bachelor's and a graduate school degree in the States; and, I am currently employed as an engineer in Los Angeles, CA. TIEP is situated in Austin which is rated as one of the safest places to live. TIEP is just located a couple blocks away from the main campus of the…KEEP READING TESTIMONIAL >

Austin offers the opportunity to feel a good international atmosphere. People here are so affable and kind. They say Hi with a smile when you walk on the streets, and believe me when you are a foreign student, that expression comforts your soul and it relieves the loneliness that you might feel when you miss home. I have been in TIEP for two semesters and the experience has become one of the most important in my life. TIEP is undoubtedly, the best beginning to improve your knowledge not only in English but also in a cultural way. The extraordinary kindness of their staff and faculty transform the building into a place where feeling as a part of a family is their target, and they do it easily for each of us. As international students we do not only face a different country and language; we also live by ourselves, we have been through many personal changes and learned many new…KEEP READING TESTIMONIAL >
Thank you very much for these great memories and for teaching me that in spite of the troubles, I can find people like you with whom I can sing, Don’t worry, Be happy.
From the heart Thank you TIEP for teaching me that the knowledge is also beyond the school.
