Evening Program

TIEP’s Evening Program offers an English Conversation and Pronunciation course to meet the needs and schedules of English learners who want to improve their spoken English-language skills for professional development or personal enrichment. The course meets two evenings per week for seven weeks. Students who successfully complete this 30-hour, noncredit course are eligible to receive 3.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Conversation & Pronunciation Skills

High-Intermediate to Advanced English Proficiency
7 weeks, 6:30 – 8:40 p.m., Tuesdays & Thursdays


A 30-hour course for English learners who want to improve their conversational English and pronunciation.  Students receive the course book in the first class.

Course goals are to improve fluency and speaking competence by practicing the vocabulary, expressions, and grammatical forms needed for everyday communication, both at work and in daily life.

Pronunciation instruction includes vowel and consonant sounds, intonation, rhythm, and stress.

Skills related to public speaking are included in the course.

This course helps learners gain confidence in their English in order to communicate more fluently and effectively.

Certificates of Completion are awarded to students who maintain 90% or better attendance, participate in classes, and complete class assignments.  Students who successfully complete this 30-hour, noncredit course are eligible to receive 3.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Discounts:  (1)  A 10% discount is available for students who enroll in another evening course within six months of prior enrollment.  (2)  A 10% discount is available for two or more students who register together for the same session.

In addition to current evening course offerings, additional evening courses (other subjects, levels and schedules) can be developed and conducted at TIEP or at work places, if a group of participants is formed. Individual tutoring can also be arranged.
