Salim Al-Mandhari - Texas Intensive English Program

Salim Al-Mandhari

When the first time I came here to the United states, I was shocked. Everything was in English, no Arabic. I was really frustrated. I said to myself, “I have to forget my language and start a new page in my life”.

After that, I was thinking about a school which is TIEP. I said, “Obviously, all the teachers will be very strict and unfriendly as the teachers were in my high school”.

On the orientation day, Victoria gave us a speech, and she was gregarious and friendly. I told myself that I have to change my idea about them, but after that I said, “No, no. Maybe this is just for one staff of them”.

After spending 3, 4, and 5 weeks in TIEP, I realized something different. All the teachers are more than your friend. Also, sometimes I feel there is no discrimination between me and my teacher.

All in all, thank you my classmates and my schoolmates for being a part of this family. Thank you Sarah for being my mother hen. Thank you Mrs. Nicole too for giving me this opportunity to stand and give a speech. Thank you Mrs. Angelique for teaching me in levels 130 & 150. Thank you Victoria for being such a great and infallible staff. Also, I want to say thank you for the teachers that I didn’t get the chance to be a student with them. Thank you all of you guys and have a great and wonderful day.
